One Journey, Two Artistic Mediums

My work explores how light, movement, and atmosphere shape our experience of place. Working in both encaustic and oil, I move between two distinct visual languages.
My encaustic paintings use layered wax to create depth, texture, and luminosity, often focusing on transitional moments like shifting weather, twilight, and winter landscapes. These works aim to capture the sensation of being in a place rather than a precise representation.
In contrast, my oil paintings pursue a refined realism centered on precision, reflection, and surface. Through glass, texture, and light, they explore balance, craftsmanship, and the quiet drama of everyday objects.
Moving between these mediums is essential to my practice, balancing the immediacy of encaustic with the control of oil painting.
Ultimately, my goal is to create work that invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and experience light and atmosphere in a lasting way.
